Random

Today is the last day of September.

I blinked and it has passed.

I turned 37 this past month....how is that possible?

I started having heart palpitations again, so I am off of caffeine and off to see a cardiologist.  Surprisingly I do not miss my cup of coffee.  It could be the horrible withdrawal symptoms that I have had that have convinced me to never, ever drink or consume caffeine again.  Ugh.

My oldest has begun reading the Wizard of Oz out loud to me, I love to read aloud, but it is SO nice to have someone read to me instead of the other way around.

I am reading through the Bible again, clinging to it tighter than my favorite stuffed animal bunny.  Needing His peace and reassurance right now, like never before.

We are listening to the Rachel Yoder series out loud everyday for quiet time.  Lovely!

I started reading the Mysterious Benedict Society as a read aloud today, not quite sure what to think yet.  It is intriguing, I will say that...

My youngest asked me to read aloud to her today and rock her in the rocking chair.  Just realized we got busy and I forgot...I better go rectify that immediately.  I realized, to my sadness, that they too quickly outgrow the rocking in Mommy's lap stage.

Wishing you the loveliest of nights!

It is deliciously chilly this morning, I pulled on a long sleeve shirt and took Tanner out for his morning business.  I stood outside and gazed across our wide backyard, the incandescent light poured forth and bathed each blade of grass.  Each blade a brilliant green dusted with dew drops that were so perfect and so delicate.  Going back inside I grab my mug of coffee and took a slow, delicious sip and hear "plop" and then a gasp and finally a "Oh no Mommy."

I get up and see that my cell phone had been accidentally knocked over into a bowl of water.  Life isn't perfect and that's OK.  The gifts of His presence, His mercy, & His grace are.

Life

Some days, that inevitably seem to lead into weeks, are hard in our home.  Watching someone you love struggle with something that is out of their control is, well there isn't really a good way to describe it.  I guess the best analogy I can think of is to say you are walking on a rug and someone, without warning, rips it clear out from under you.

However the one thing I have learned is that instead of smacking the floor really hard, I find that there is grace under that rug to cushion the fall.  It makes my struggle with worry seem even more ridiculous because God has never, not once, no matter how hard the fall, no matter how unexpected the jerking of the rug has been, He has never failed to meet us right where we are.  He shows up in the most unexpected of ways.  Or maybe He was already there and it took something to jerk me out of my stupor to recognize His presence?

I am going to start Bible in 90 days again on September 16th.  There is a person hosting it, Carrie on her blog 'Carrie's heart' and you can sign up here.  Start in Genesis and read all the way through to Revelation.  How will He reveal Himself to you?  What will you learn?  Anything you thought was true, but in fact wasn't?  Can you see how He promises the gift of the Messiah from the very beginning?  See how the second half of the book not only hinges from the first, but the New only stands because of the Old?  It is an awesome journey!!  If at all possible, please come and join in!

this coming week

* I hope to take pictures of our school room, my kids were all sick last week and it was rough

* I am going to start blogging through the Love Dare for Parents (edited to add)
From the first moment I read The Love Dare, I really, really wanted it to come out for parents.  I love the idea behind the movie Fire Proof, even more so the book, The Love Dare.  So a few weeks ago when I saw the book I begged my husband to let me order it, he did and wow.  It is awesome.  I had planned to blog through it, but quickly decided I would keep a private journal as I go through it instead.  I cannot recommend this book enough, for any parent, no matter the age of your kids...no matter how broken the relationship(s).

* We are back at school after having some sick days last week, we had a good flow going, hoping to tap back into that rhythm

* Is Rosh Hashanah and we are excited

* What's on the schedule for you?

On a side note, I just finished two things - one the tea cup novellas by Diane Moody, she has become one of my very favorite authors, which reminds me the newest book in a four part series (seasons of the heart) by Charlotte Hubbard is released this week and I literally just (about an hour ago) finished reading Heaven Hears by Lindy Boone...awesome book.
