Happy Reading

Back to School

It has been crazy busy around here, it seems like from the time my eyes pop open in the morning until they drift close at night, it is go, go, go.  School, laundry, dishes, meal prep...it is never ending.  By the time I climb into bed I am sooooo tired.  I will be turning forty in a few weeks and I feel every single one of those years lately.  I see the horizon in the distance though, of when these days will be but a distant bittersweet memory, so I don't want to wish them away, or hurry them along.

My absolute favorite, favorite, favorite time each day is read aloud time.  All three of my kiddos are past the age, or soon will be, when reading aloud is considered a worthy time investment, but I don't care.  As long as I have the ability I want to share stories with them, read them aloud, dive deep into the enchantment of story.  It knits our hearts together, transcends the hard moments (of which there are many), and allows school to continue despite health issues and struggles attempting to hijack the learning time.  In short read aloud has become the anchor of our day.

It's a good thing that we have many, many delicious titles awaiting us -

Green Ember Falls (we cannot wait for this to release!)
Heidi
The Book of Virtues for Young People
Silverton's Bobbie
The Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness
(adding more)
Heidi
Mr Popper's Penguin
Mrs Piggle Wiggle
39 Clues Series
Mountain Born
AA Milne
Shakespeare - have a whole study coming up - much anticipated!
...so many more than we will probably get to, but I am keeping a running list of what I want to read on the right hand side of the blog...so many awesome books, so little time it feels like.
