February Brighter Winter Wrap-Up

What I read:

The Boy on the Porch by Sharon Creech - saw this as a recommended title for the challenge 'a book about a disability' - this book was short and sweet.  It accurately captured any parent / caregiver's anxiety and worry over how much is enough?  How do you handle your kid being so different from other kids and how do you process/field the questions that inevitably come your way.  Love this book!  My favorite part : the shelf of shoes 💖

Then Sings My Soul by Robert Morgan - great little book on some of the best known (and loved) hymns.  We googled and listened to almost all of the hymns (or the first stanza of them) and that really made this book so special.

What They Meant For Evil by Rebecca Deng - INCREDIBLE book.  Written by one of the Lost Girls of Sudan.  I had NO idea this happened , so much suffering, so much loss.  God is so faithful, no matter the evil schemes that unfold - His faithfulness is unhinderered.

An Old Fashioned Thanksgiving by Louisa May Alcott - read this short story aloud - it is so beloved by us!!!!!!!

The Wollstonecraft Detective Agency by Jordan Stratford (wrote a post about)

The Moving Finger by Agatha Christie (wrote a post about)

The Triumph of John and Betty Stam by Mrs. Howard Taylor (wrote a post about)

Snow Queen #1 Heart of Ice (re-read) by KM Shea

Different by Sally and Nathan Clarkson - this was a beautiful, albeit painful book to read.  So much of what Nathan and Sally detailed - we have experienced and so a lot of painful memories drew to the surface.  I highly recommend this book, ESPECIALLY if you have someone in your life that you just do not understand.  Maybe they are different and you wonder why can't they just behave or fit in or meet your demands or attend that social function or meet you for dinner when you are in town...READ this and you will gain a new perspective.  I wish I had had this book to hand out to family and friends as my girls grew up.  A lot of hurt could have been avoided.  Our girls' special needs/struggles/chronic health issues go so far beyond this book, but by the way it is written...this book gives insight into what it is like to live with a disability that highlights your differences in stark contrast to what others consider 'normal'.

The Little Selkie by K.M. Shea (wrote a post about)

Words on Fire by Jennifer Nielson (writing this post tomorrow)

My Favorite from this month: WOW - I guess I would have to say The Triumph of John and Betty Stam, but truly this was SUCH a great reading month.  I really enjoyed it!!

My Favorite from the entire challenge: Hudson Taylor's Spiritual Secret!!!!
