Magic Forged

by K.M. Shea

This is book one in a trilogy and is a very different style of mystery book than what I normally read.

Magic Forged is a supernatural mystery (vampires, werewolves, magic, and fae) involving the stories of two (very) different magical families simultaneously unfolding.

On the one hand House Medeis -and the newest leader at the helm is Hazel, who has barely enough magic to cause a spark.  No sooner has she been hit with the death of both of her parents and been shouldered with the magical house, than she is forced to face a betrayal that literally knocks her for a loop.  She has no experience, next to no magic, what is she going to do?

Meanwhile there are murders taking place in the vampire community and the powerful Drake family cannot seem to figure them out.  Why is someone (s) able to murder vampire and human alike with no traces left behind?  And if the Drake family cannot stop them, who can?

The majority of the action takes place in the summer (starts in the spring, but really gets going during the summer, so I am choosing August (since it is hot, it was August when I started reading it, and the swimming pool scenes make me think of hot August afternoons) to log it as a mystery.  Highly recommend.
