This is book three in the Timeless Fairytale series by K. M. Shea. (The Snow Queen series is sort of a stand alone, but it is recommended that you start with that as the characters are mentioned a LOT throughout the series.)
It has been a bit since I have visited Shea's fairytale land, and as a result I was confused trying to remember who was who with characters from Beauty and the Beast and The Wild Swans. So, don't make the mistake I made and try reading these back to back to back if you can.
I know I have said this before, but what started out as a pre-read has turned into let-me-read series. I am thankful that K.M. Shea writes clean and enjoyable retellings of the classics.
This is a clever spin on Cinderella and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the emphasis on forgiveness. I wanted to share several, several passages...but it will give away aspects of the book that I think might rob you of the joy of reading it for yourself. Let me just say, you will be surprised by the depth of truth tucked into each fairytale retelling so far. I cried and laughed simultaneously through the Epilogue and then, feeling like I was bidding farewell to close friends, I closed my kindle, wishing there were more chapters awaiting me. If I didn't have two more waiting on me that I need to pre-read, I would totally jump into book four (I believe it is about Rumpelstilskin...which will be interesting since as a kid that story horrified me.)
This sounds really good! I am surprised how much I enjoy fairy tale retellings when I read them.
ReplyDeleteMe too! I cannot tell you how much I have enjoyed her series thus far!!
