I LOVED listening to Sense and Second-Degree Murder - the book was amazing, the narrator EVEN more so! As soon as I finished listening to it, I went in search to see if the author had any more books published and was so excited to find out that she did indeed have two more in the series (Jane Austen Murder Mysteries) Pride and Premeditation (released March 2021) and then Manslaughter Park (coming out in June 2023) Because I LOVE the narrator so much, I got the audio version and saved it in anticipation of a trip we were going to take (this week actually)...only we got sick and canceled the trip, so I decided to listen to it anyway!
It did NOT disappoint!!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book. I love how Tirzah Price handles the characters and builds her stories. I love how she sticks to the original classic, yet it isn't just listening to the story again. She actually builds the intrigue chapter by chapter and the result is fantastic. HIGHLY recommend this book.
The Christmas Pig by JK Rowling
My husband drove over an hour away to find this book for me last November...and then life overwhelmed us and here it is, exactly a year later and I finally read it.
I felt guilty about taking so long to read it, especially since he went out of his way to get it for me, but I would not have made it through the story then, and ultimately I am really glad that I waited.
But even with waiting, I totally cried through several chapters. Maybe because of the stage of life we are in? Or the fact that this has been a hard year? Or that this story reminded me of my own childhood best friend, Bunny (a stuffed rabbit that I loved so deeply)? Either way, although this is a children's story, if you had a stuffed, fluffy best friend growing up, be warned that it will stir some emotion. This story also addresses divorce and the blending of families as they pick up the pieces and move forward. The artwork is STUNNING. Absolutely enchanting!
My favorite quote:
"Losing is part of living," whispered DP into Jack's ear, his snout snuffling against Jack's hair. "But some of us live even though we're lost."
I like the sound of the Tirzah Price series! I'll have to look for it.
ReplyDeleteI practically teared up just reading the quote you included from The Christmas Pig. Sounds lovely.
