What failed this week: the 365 promises. The further in that I went with the daily paraphrase...the more the paraphrase deviated from what the Word actually said. I ended up asking someone what to do - because it deeply bothered me. I ultimately decided to drop the 365 promises and replace it with A.W. Tozer's classic The Knowledge of the Holy (a book dedicated to studying the attributes of God).
What I missed: In beginning my new reading challenges, the Bible plan, and (at the time) the 365 Promises, I felt it necessary to lay aside the Barb Raveling study I have been slowly working on so that I could give my attention to not only my personal goals, but also launching our new year in school and at home off to a good start. What resulted was that I missed it so much, I picked it back up. This study has become about so much more than just weight loss. It is such a good study about renewing your mind.
What I am thankful for:
hot coffee
teddy grahams (does anyone else just smile when you see the faces of those bears?!?!)
cinnamon candles
good pens and space to journal
early mornings
school time
read aloud time
texting - I hate talking on the phone, but I love the freedom of texting
chicken, veggies, and pasta (you can also substitute spaghetti squash and/or zoodles -zucchini noodles- for this). This dish is so versatile - you can eat it plain or experiment with sauces, spices, and flavors
Hudson Taylor (reading his biography this week and 😍)
It sounds like you made the right choice in dropping 365 Promises and picking back up the other study that you enjoy. I'm hungry after reading your list of what you are thankful for - I want some chicken, veggies and pasta, followed by Teddy Grahams and coffee 🙂. Hope your week is going well!
