Is it Friday yet?!?!

So, this week definitely is not going as planned.

Between plumbing and water issues, I feel like I just want to curl up in a blanket, sip hot chocolate, and lose myself in a good book.

But - since problems demand attention even when we often don't want to give it -  I settled on a quick, easy non-fiction read for this week.

The No-Nonsense Home Organizational Plan by Kim Davidson Jones is a book that has set on my shelf for years after an impulse buy one January day.  You know the ones...the new year's resolutions are fresh, the energy (or more accurately the caffeine and/or chocolate infused) euphoria is coursing through your veins and then it happens.  On your way to find the perfect read for the new year you spot the title of a book promising everything you ever wanted as a keeper of the home.  A clean, organized home in a few short hours, days, weeks, and/or months (it varies depending on the book) and you snatch it up and head to checkout before the rational part of your brain kicks in.

And then it comes home and lives on your shelf, waiting for that desperate week when you don't have time to read anything else.

I could sum up this book in a few sentences.  Separate your house/rooms into categories spread over about six to seven weeks.  Pull everything out of the area that it's time to work on, categorize it, and decide what to keep.  Clean the area before putting it back and then toss/donate/recycle/or sell what you aren't keeping.  Oh and be sure to take the before and after pictures so that you can see your progress.

I am praying our week improves...because it is only Tuesday and I feel like six weeks have passed since Sunday.
