A week of pre-reads

Every so often, I set aside a week to pre-read from the stack that is constantly refilling itself.  This has been that week...(with one exception)

1) Held by Sandra and Lee Peoples.  This is a short (100 pgs.) and sweet Bible study/book geared toward special needs parenting.  I am not new to this journey, but still found such sweet encouragement and comfort nestled in the pages.

2) In a Blink by Kiki Thorpe.  This is such a sweet, cute read.  I really enjoyed getting to pre-read this one and look forward to reading book two.  This is a fairy story from Neverland - Tink, Vidia, Queen Clarion, and Prilla - they are all there.  I should mention that one of our favorite, favorite audio books from when my girls were younger was Gail Carson Levine's Fairy Dust and the Quest for the Egg (We listened to it and I love love loved it!  I still vividly remember those afternoons.  Funny enough, for the longest time I thought the narrator was Judi Dench...come to find out it is Hannah Gordon and she does the loveliest of jobs!!!!)

3) Enola Holmes and The Case for the Cryptic Crinoline by Nancy Springer.  I love this series so much.  I am so sad that I am wrapping it up (this is book five and the number four on my book post today will be book six).  I think there are some stand-alones and I am going to have to try them, because I have so enjoyed this series.  This one takes us a bit deeper into Sherlock and Enola's relationship - highly recommend.

4) Enola Holmes and The Case of the Disappearing Duchess by Nancy Springer (we got this as a boxed set, when I went to record this on good reads, I noticed that book six is called The Case of the Gypsy Good-bye, as far as I can tell they are the same book, just in the boxed set it is called the Disappearing Duchess and stand alone and on audible it is called the Gypsy Good-bye.)

This was the perfect book to end the series.  I am not going to say more, because...well except for this: read it if you have the time.  Read the entire series!!!

5) Princess Between Worlds by E.D. Baker.  I am running late getting this one done, but thankfully she is still interested in the series.  This one was neat, but a bit odd.  I liked it, but not as much as the other ones I have read in the series.  Annie is on her wedding Grand Tour and it (of course) does not go as they had planned.  They find themselves in a bit of a pickle...repeatedly.  Each new chapter brings a new place to visit and each new place they find the problems are bigger than anticipated.

6) Jesus and OCD by Charles Thompson.  I am always a bit reluctant to review books geared towards journeying through mental illness of any kind, because it is just a very personal journey for many and the very last thing anyone needs is to hear one more "expert" tell them this is how they can "cure" their struggle/disease/illness.  I am back and forth about this book.  I am not sure if I will write more of a review about it or not, but ultimately I am glad that I read it.

💖 I finished reading Snow Queen aloud.  We loved it - every single one of us!! (this is my fourth time through it and I loved it just as much as the very first time.)
